La computadora portátil se congela cuando conecto un nuevo cable de pantalla de monitor

0

I have a Dell Studio 1749 with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics card.

I've just purchased a Dell U2713HM Monitor. I need to connect them Displayport > Displayport in order to acheive the monitor's maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 (I can't use VGA or HDMI because these cables don't have enough bandwidth to support that resolution... and the laptop doesn't have a DVI port)

When I plug the monitor Displayport cable in, it all works fine and displays at the full resolution for about 5 seconds, then the laptop freezes. Initially it just won't let me click on anything (neither using the touchpad buttons or with a mouse) and then another 5 seconds later the pointer freezes too

Tan pronto como desconecte el cable Displayport, se descongela y vuelve a la normalidad

He descargado e instalado la última tarjeta gráfica y controladores de monitor.

Cualquier consejo muy apreciado

Have you tried leaving it for a couple minutes to see if it says frozen. Might just be slow to respond to whats happening.

Since you just purchased the monitor and are using a Dell laptop, contact Dell Support.

@Ramhound Maximum HDMI 1.3 bandwidth is 10.2Gbps, vs. DisplayPort 1.2's 17.28 Gbps. His GPU is specifically limited to 1200p on the HDMI output, and 1600p on the DisplayPort output. Even HDMI 2.0 (18Gbps) vs DisplayPort 1.3 (32.4Gbps) still pegs DisplayPort as carrying nearly double the bandwidth as HDMI of the equivalent generation.

@MatthewWilliams Have you checked the Windows Event Log (or dmesg if on linux) to see if there are any warnings or errors from the kernel or graphics driver when you connect the monitor?
