¿Usando Drop Markers y MarkerClusterer juntos?

Quiero crear una representación visualmente atractiva de datos de series temporales (ubicaciones de tiendas Costco con fechas de apertura).

Mi idea era trazarlos en un mapa, en series de tiempo, pero parece que la cantidad de marcadores en el mapa resta valor a la imagen que quiero presentar.

Construyendo el mapa en Google Maps API v3, pude llegar ESTO lejos ...

Quiero poder agrupar los marcadores a medida que se despliegan en el mapa. Es decir, los grupos crecerían dinámicamente a medida que los marcadores caen en el mapa.

Bonito mapa! Me gusta el enfoque que ha tomado para que los marcadores vuelen. Esta no es una respuesta estricta a su pregunta, pero ¿qué pasa con el uso de una forma diferente que se veía mejor en masa? Hay un buen ejemplo en Flowing Data que usa círculos. Esto podría eliminar la necesidad de agrupar las características.

Puede que esta no sea la solución más elegante, pero, con un ajuste fino de las duraciones de tiempo de espera y la personalización de los iconos de clúster, creo que puede obtener el efecto que está buscando. Ver este ejemplo .

El truco es crear primero un marcador y establecer el mapatributo en el objeto de opciones de marcador. Esto agrega el marcador al mapa con la agradable animación de caída. Luego, la createMarkerfunción devuelve el objeto marcador para que podamos agregarlo al clúster después de que se suelte en el mapa. La adición del marcador al clúster está envuelta en su propia setTimeoutfunción, de modo que hay un retraso entre la caída del marcador en el mapa y la adición al clúster. De lo contrario, todo sucede demasiado rápido para ver.

Tenga en cuenta que para tener control sobre los iconos del clúster debe usar MarkerClusterPlus , la versión mejorada de MarkerCluster . MarkerClusterPlus es compatible con versiones anteriores.
