libtool instalado pero no en la ruta después de la instalación

Estoy tratando de instalar libtool. Parece que no está disponible incluso después de instalarlo.

Cualquier ayuda valorada.

sudo apt-get install libtool-bin

Descubrí que libtool-binno era un paquete disponible hasta después sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, reiniciar, luegosudo apt-get update

En mi Ubuntu LTS, intenté

sudo apt-get install libtool

En la raíz de la carpeta de origen

autoconf
autoreconf --install 

hecho exitosamente
