Obteniendo 404 errores no encontrados al hacer `sudo apt-get update`

Recibo los siguientes errores al hacerlo sudo apt-get update, lo he intentado sudo apt-get dist-upgradecomo se recomienda aquí, pero nada parece solucionar el problema. Al leer otras preguntas relacionadas con este problema, parece que la versión de Ubuntu ya no era compatible, pero estoy ejecutando la última versión de Ubuntu.

Tengo un problema similar en mi PC anterior, que estoy a punto de purgar / desmantelar ( por lo que no es urgente solucionarlo ). Todavía tengo que resolver ..

Elimine la línea que lee deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu main universe restricted multiverse(y la línea comentada después de eso, si lo desea). Entonces corre sudo apt-get update. No debería haber errores ahora.

Eso solucionó el problema, ¿sabes por qué? No agregué ese repositorio yo mismo, creo que se agregó cuando instalé Ubuntu inicialmente.

La sintaxis (para los repositorios de Ubuntu predeterminados) es incorrecta. Justo después de la URL, la versión de distro ( trusty) generalmente va allí, seguida de las diferentes secciones del repositorio (se permite una o más). Vea las otras URL para la sintaxis.

Esta respuesta está destinada a versiones que están más allá del límite de soporte. En el caso de esta pregunta, 14.04 LTS todavía está bajo soporte.

Primero ejecute sudo apt-get -y upgradepara que apt-get sea designado correctamente.

Luego puede ejecutar comandos como:

sudo apt-get -y update
sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade

sin obtener el error "404 no encontrado".

Esta fue la mejor solución para mí. Las otras respuestas me obligaron a modificar directamente los archivos que generalmente se mantienen automáticamente y no me sentí cómodo con eso.
