Según su solución, eliminé el directorio pero daba los mismos errores.

para mí, faltaba una cosa más. el autogen.sh no pudo generar configurepara corregir ese usosudo apt install pkg-config

Watchman versión 4.7.0 no es compatible con GCC 7.x, como se informa aquí:

Intente compilar la última versión, v4.9.0, en la que se solucione el problema:
